The best pool inlet fittings for 2026

An inlet fitting is the nozzle that returns filtered water to the pool, and it is the cheapest part of the circuit with the largest effect on whether the pool actually circulates. A filter that turns over the whole volume in five hours does nothing useful if the returned water goes straight back into the skimmer, and the geometry that prevents that is set entirely here. The first specification is fit: the thread — commonly 1½" or 2" — the hose tail size, and the wall thickness the gasket stack accepts, because an inlet is a hole through a liner and a steel wall and the seal is the whole product. The second is the eyeball, the rotating ball that aims the jet. An adjustable eyeball lets the return be pointed down and away from the skimmer, which is what sets up the slow rotation that brings surface debris to the skimmer mouth; a fixed fitting cannot do that. Third, the nozzle diameter, which trades velocity against flow: a narrow nozzle throws further and stirs better but raises back pressure on the pump. Then the set contents, which is where these listings differ most — a fitting sold as a complete set with two gaskets, a lock ring and a face plate is a different purchase from a bare nozzle.
