The subject of this site, and how it is funded
PoolsideVerdict is an independent editorial site about private pool and spa equipment — frame pools, steel wall pools and the domes and roofs over them — the filtration beside them: cartridge and sand filter systems, pumps, drain pumps, multiport valves, hoses, skimmers and inlet fittings — the heating: heat pumps, electric and wood-fired heaters, solar collectors and solar showers — the cleaning: robots, handheld vacuums, vacuum heads, nets, brushes and telescopic poles — the measurement and dosing: testers, test strips, thermometers, salt chlorinators and dosing floats — and the consumables that go through a pool every season: liners, ground cloths, covers, solar covers, winter covers and winterising products, repair kits, filter glass, filter sand and cartridges, chlorine tablets and granules, bromine, active oxygen, algaecide, flocculant, pH regulators and pool salt. It does not cover aquariums and their filtration, bathroom taps and fittings, pressure washers and steam cleaners, or portable power stations and solar panels, all of which are covered elsewhere; nor public pool regulation, nor water analysis as a service, nor anything presented as advice on whether water is fit to swim in. Volumes, flow rates, heads, COP figures, hose and bore diameters, film thicknesses in microns, fabric deniers, grain sizes, active chlorine contents, doses per cubic metre, salinities, runtimes and quoted noise levels published by manufacturers are reported as such, with their unit written as published, with their source named, and never derived by us. In particular, a COP and the temperatures it was measured at are reported as the two inseparable things they are, and the first is never presented without the second. Nothing here replaces a manufacturer's own instructions, the markings on a product, the safety data sheet of a chemical, or the rules of the country you are in — and two statements are repeated on every page that touches them: a stated dose is a published figure about a product and is never presented here as advice about what a particular pool needs; and no disinfectant, no filter, no UV device and no test strip is described on this site as making water safe to swim in.
